Hi Walter, Let me see what I reember. The Erie Limited was dieselized around 1947 with F-3's painted yellow and black. During this period the older cars were rehabilitated with picture windows and other items to make them look modern. The only new cars that the Erie acquired were the sleepers. Everything was painted black. Because the F-3's couldn't hold the heat in winter time, they were transfered to freight and replaced by E8's in 1951. They were painted in the green and cream colors and all cars were painted to match. Modern observation cars did not exist on the Erie. The railroad also had longer experimental wings applied to the E8's for a short time before the standard wings replaced them. The LifeLike Erie E8 looks great. One problem is that it has a marz or low head light which the Erie never had. I hope this helps.
