Re: (erielack) EL video

Dave-

Had those two tapes bought for me two Xmas's ago. Footage is basically
western, has very little from the east end even though one of the tapes
(Tape 2) is labeled "East End". This tape heavily covers a fan trip with
steam engine D&H #302 from Binghmton (BD) to Hoboken (but the tape never
gets there) with a variety of old coaches, an D&H RPO, one EL diner?, a
string of the ex-Sante Fe commuter cars, a D&H baggage car, more Sante Fe
cars, an Amtrak coach and the Freedom Train observation car. It shows
scenes from Alford, PA; across the Tunnanhanock Viaduct at Nicholson, PA;
Factoryville Tunnel; Scranton, PA adding coal and water; two (2) GP-7's run
by; then at Nay Ag Tunnel being pushed by an EL EMD switcher; run bys at
Dunmore, PA; Moscow, PA; Gouldsboro, PA; an almost meet at Slateford
Junction with 1 SDP45 and 1 SD45-2 with a about a 20 car freight and two
hacks (1 bay window and one old DL&W) that backs down the old main; and
THEN THE FAN TRIP ENDS THERE.

Next are pictures of a eastbound with two SD45 with TOFC freight over
Starruca; a U-boat and SD45 with freight westbound over Starruca with an
F7A and GP7 pushing on a bay window caboose;  same train at Deposit, NY;
pushers drop off at Deposit; westbound auto products train at Calicoon, NY
pulled by three E8A and GP35; SD45-2, SD45 & U33C,40 cars and a bay window
with merchandiser train at the Delaware River on Hankens Curve; at
Lackawaxen, PA; SD45-2 & U33C over a bridge at Port Jervis, NY with mainly
box cars on tank car and two hoppers and a bay window hack; Middletown, NY
station with E8A #825 and 6 green/gray-green Stillwells; Goshen NY with E8A
#821 & sister with 7 Stillwells; westbound merchandiser; Hornell, NY a
merchandiser with 2 SPD45's & in between a SD45-2 with auto racks tanks,
boxcars with a bay window hack; single SD45 and bay window with train
outside Hornell, NY; at Corning, NY, NY-99 with 2 SD45 and many TOFC's;
west of Corning, NY U33C eastbound auto products train and old DL&W hack;
GP9 with bay window running light; eastbound merchandiser at Cameron, NY
with SD45's and bay window. AND THAT'S THE LIMIT OF THE EAST END.

Back to Marion, OH with 1 SD45's & SDP45 at the Marion yard near AC tower.
Then a PennCentral train at Marion; a C&O (Chessie) train; a N&W
merchandiser; AC Tower in its "barn red" splendor, another PC TOFC train; a
PC eastbound merchandiser; line up of EL units at the edge of the Marion
yard; an EL passes under AC Tower with a SDP#3627 in the lead and another
behind it with a merchandiser and bay window on the end; PC merchandiser;
EL RS3 with DL&W hack on local switcher and loaded cars, another C&O train;
SDP-45 running backwards with F7A-B-A behind pulling mainly boxcars and a
bay window hack; an EL SD45-2 and U33C pull an eastbound merchandiser with
pure red bay window on the rear; at Caladonia and EL SPD-45 & SD-45 and
U33C meet nine units lead by U25B at bridges near Marion; F7A#7131,
F7B#6342, F7B#6362 an RS-3 and another F7A pull a few cars and C908 ex-DL&W
hack; NE-97 at Kingland, IN an E8A and F7B, many cars and a bay window at
GS Tower; SPD45 thru Kinsland, IN with a mixed load; and finally
SDP45's#3641 and sister with slow moving freight with C301 bay window on
the rear.

Epilogue is transtion paint scheme on EL units. Here we have LV, PC and EL
#3632 Bicentennial; RDG and EL SDP45 in yard; Horseshoe Curve with two EL
units; Susquehanna station with EL SD45 (CR painted numbers) and RDG hack.

I guess they don't consider New Jersey the real East end of the EL and
THERE ARE NO PICTURES OF ANYTHING EAST OF MIDDLETOWN, NY.

Much to my disappointment!
