To the EL List Members,
I'd like to clarify a few incorrect statements that have been made
regarding the NEW Cannonball Car Shops Troop Sleepers.
1. This is a BRAND NEW plastic kit. This is not an old resin
kit. These are BRAND NEW molds. As such, it features thin wall castings
and see through vent screens.
2. This is a flat kit DESIGNED for kitbashing. The prototypes
saw untold modifications after the war so this is an excellent starting
point for projects ranging from DL&W, Erie, and EL head end and camp
cars to a Bangor and Aroostook caboose.
3. The kit is available with or without trucks. The supplied
trucks are from Eastern Car Works and do not have wheelsets.
4. Cannonball Car Shops is not a new company. It has been owned
by the same gentleman for nearly two decades. This is a small company
dedicated to producing ACCURATE models that have not been well
represented to date.
5. For a detailed history of the cars, the roads that ran them,
and the uses that various roads put them to, check out this web site :
http://www.mrrwarehouse.com/ and go to the Products button and then
select Cannonball Car Shops.
6. There are pictures of these cars in the EL Color Guide from
Morning Sun.
7. Finally, on a personal note. When we post messages on mailing
lists or forums on the internet, as a group I'd like to think that model
railroaders and railfans are doing so with a thought to their personal
integrity and honesty before they hit the send button. Verify facts
before you send the email, not after. A recurring thread the last
couple of days dealt with the "the good old days" when the Railfan Press
was noble and a Fairbanks-Morse locomotive was identified correctly.
Well, the internet has become the unofficial press and everything that
is posted becomes part of the greater "public record". Please get it
right and if you slam a product or a person and you don't have the
personal integrity to include your name, then I should hope that people
will question your motives. Freedom of speech has a price and it is
called responsibility. Enough of the soap box. Thank you for
listening.
Sincerely,
Jason Cook
