Gilbert, The locomotive that you are thinking of was the 2-8-8-8-4 built 1918 for the Virginian Railway. This loco was purchased after the Erie had already bought its three triplexe's which were of the 2-8-8-8-2 wheel arrangement. The Erie locos were kept intact until they were scrapped in the early 1930's. The single Virginian piece, which like the Erie's was maginally sucessful, was cut up by the railroad in the 1920's and turned into two seperate locomotives. The result was a 2-8-8-2 and a 2-8-0. Hope this helps you out. Matt Forsyth ------------------------------------------------------------ Visit the erielack photopage at http://el-list.railfan.net ------------------------------
