On the subject of old threads, here's a couple of updates. The Erie station 
bench at the old Arden Station is no longer there but the building still 
stands and continues to serve as the local post office. Miss Pheobe Snow's 
epitaph is still on the south bridge abutment at Mountain Station but is only 
bearly ledgible. It's author hasn't renewed it since moving from the area 
some years ago.

Conrail has been cleaning up Paterson yard and in doing so had uncovered the 
top edge of the old turntable pit wall. It is clearly visible just west of 
the yard office but cannot be viewed without trespassing on either NJT or CR 
property. Part of the turntable pit wall at the east end of old South 
Paterson Yard remains, as well, but is totally obscured by vegetation this 
time of year.

NJ Transit is going to double track the Main Line between Paterson Jct. and 
XW as part of the Allied Junction and NYS&W Sparta service projects. Test 
boring equipment is now tking core samples on the embankment east of XW by 
the Getty Ave. bridge.

The interlocking track work at Hawthorne to connect NJT and the NYS&W is 
almost complete. Footings for the relay house and home signals are being 
installed, also.
