(erielack) EL SDP45 in WC colors...

Since this was discussed recently, thought you'd all enjoy seeing the new
issue of Diesel Era magazine (May/June 1999)... on the inside front cover,
there's a photo of WC 6634, with this caption:

BOTH DECORATED AND UNDECORATED: Although EMD offered SDP45-model units for
passenger service, only two railroads, Southern Pacific and Great Northern,
ordered them with steam generators. The majority of the units built, 34 of
52, went to Erie Lackawanna, which specified extra fuel capacity,
necessitating the longer frame. Today, nine units of the EL fleet remain;
six rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen as SD40M-3's for SP (now Union Pacific); one
unit each in the Helm lease fleet and the Virginia Museum of Transportation,
and Wisconsin Central 6634, which was built as EL 3656. The unit was
photographed at Kansas City, KS on March 30, 1999.
