When I was working out of Bayonne I made  acquaintance of a light colonel
named Bill Byrne who had worked at one time as a tower man on the EL.  I
was also involved in a couple of business dealings ventures which
involved  the   late John Drake. I happened to run into both of them at
Whippany one Saturday and Bill [now that I'm one also I have no problem
referring to other  retired field grades by their first name] continually
referred to John as "Cupcake". I wasn't sure if my leg was being pulled
or not. The next Friday I asked Bill about it and he explained that John
had picked up the nickname behind his back since his family had owned
Drake's Cakes
