(erielack) Erie Lackawanna reefer preserved

This is a recent release from the Conrail Technical Society

                            ....Mike

The Conrail Technical Society is proud to announce the acquisition of
Conrail mechanical reefer CR 359020. The fifty-foot mechanical reefer is
currently stored at Conway, PA. The car will be moved to the Danbury
Railway Museum in Danbury, CT shortly. The car which was built as
Erie-Lackawanna 5019 will be refurblished into a Library Car and will
serve as the Conrail Technical Society's archive. The unique car with
white with blue lettering and trim was rebuilt as a prototype with GPS
satellite monitoring equipment, unfortunately the rebuilding program
never continued and the car became an orphan. We plan on fully restoring
the car externally and modifying the interior. The Danbury Railway
Museum is fast becoming one of the premier railroad museums in the
country and is a logical home for the car, being it made many trips to
both the Chelsea Market in Boston, MA and Hunt's Point Market in the
Bronx.
