Concerning the 'Texas' photos ... (I'm in the office at the moment and do
not have access to references) ... that would be the Everett DeGolier
collection at Southern Methodist University in Dallas ... he acquired the
company photos (and lots of other ephemera) from the Baldwin Works ... they
are all cataloged and stored in a special collection area ... I was a
student there in the early 70s ... recall reviewing the shop order books for
the steam locos (builder's info, dimensions, customer info, builder's
number/loco number, costs, etc.) while researching PRR 2-6-0 (class F-1 thru
F-3) production. They do provide copies of the builder's photos which can
be ordered from a catalog ... can also do research in the collection, for a
price.
(now we'll see how good my memory is:)
Everett DeGolier's father was a wealthy oil guy and the son became a rail
fan and photographer with deep pockets ... I have one of his books ('Tracks
Going Back'), a collection of his photos ... I'm not sure if he is still
alive, but he donated part of his collection to SMU with money to build
space and provide maintenance.
