Paul and List Members: Speaking of things to notice on the calendar, take a look at June's photo of the AC Tower crossing at Marion. Notice on the N&W (formerly PRR) tracks that cross the EL's in the picture, on the nearest set of N&W tracks and between the 2 EL tracks, there is what appears to be a spike (or something looking like a spike) extending upward from the nearest ( or right ) rail on the tracks. It seems quite improbable that this spike could be held up on its pointed side, but not being an expert on 2 sets of double track crossing each other, whether there is another rail or some piece of hardware that could hold this in place. OR - could this be an optical illusion, with the apparatus either in front of or behind the rail? If you have trouble spotting this, drop a vertical line from the numbers on the cab to the N& W track below. If it is on the rail, could this cause a potential derailment? I will await your comments.
