Now an additional question on this topic. I know that the glass plate negative collection exists, most at Syracuse, but at some point, the company photographers surely started using conventional negative media. Are these negatives, such as those taken by W.W.Barry, in a collection somewhere ?? >> Hi Dick Its been a while but if my memory serves me right, there were some of the smaller negatives at Syracuse, and I think they were in even worse shape than the 8 X 10s. I think they were glopped ( stuck ) together in clumps. These were probable Barry Negatives? I don't know of any others. I had heard of the De Gallard collection at one of the Universities in Texas as having a lot of Lackawanna glass plates years ago, but never confirmed that. My personal opinion is that Tom Tabor 2nd had access to the collection, and many were used in the books produced by his son Tom Tabor 3rd. Everything from that project SHOULD be out at the PA Railroad museum in Strassburg PA. Like so many museums trying to get at the material is literally a struggle in patience, and perseverance. Its not suited for anyone with ANY time constraints, let alone the cost involved, if you want to get a copy of something. I wound up just getting some Xerox's when I visited there years ago. The whole family could have stayed an extra night on our vacation for what it would have cost me to make 6 to 10 prints.
