(erielack) Branchville trackage

To all,

According to the information that I have uncovered to date, in the 1950's,
the town of Branchville had no track within the actual town limits where an
engine could run around its train . The only place that an engine could run
around a train was at the wye just south (railroad east) of town. Due to
the fact that steam engines were no longer in use on the branch, the wye was
removed from service and replaced with a "Run around" track on tuesday April
12th, 1955. The tricky part for the local about switching Branchville must
have been that the industries being serviced had both trailing and facing
point switches in town. Does anyone know how they used to switch the town's
local industries? Did they go in and switch all of the trailing point
switches, then go out of town to the "Run-around" track, run around the
train, then go back to switch the rest of town? Any insight you may offer
will be helpful.
