Pete, In a recent e-mail to the Erie-Lackawanna Mailing List you asked about a couple of places. I can tell you about two of them. Cassadaga Valley is between Dunkirk and Jamestown, 14.1 railroad miles from Dunkirk. It was a fairly popular spot due to its proximity to the Cassadaga Lakes and the Lilydale Spiritualist Center. It was not on the Atlantic & Great Western, but the Dunkirk, Alleghany Valley and Pittsburgh Railroad (later part of the NYC). I believe that Pine Valley was the name of the area near Gerry, NY, south of Cassadaga (MP 26.5). There is no town of Pine Valley, but there is (or at least was 15 years ago) a Pine Valley Central School in that area. It was not on the Atlantic & Great Western, but the Dunkirk, Alleghany Valley and Pittsburgh Railroad (later part of the NYC). You have got me on Birkenhead.
