The Q#1 (ex 3632) was still on the property a few weeks ago when I
visited, but I too noticed it was no longer there this past weekend. Any
changes as to its location are recent. I also noticed a few SD-45s in
fading paint, but I couldn't tell if any had the EL horn arrangement.
Regarding the BNSF unit, the paint shop boys told me that it costs them
$35,000 to paint just one of them. The BNSF decals alone are $10,000!
This compares to 15-17K to repaint a standard Conrail unit in Quality
paint. I wonder how much it would cost the EL today to paint one in GMY
using the high quality Imron paints of today? Anyone have this cost data
from the EL's days?
