The usual horsepower-based number series was fudged a bit here, as the EL wanted to differentiate between different classes of locomotives, and since the C425, GP35 and U25B all had 2500 horsepower, only one builder got the "true" 2500 horsepower series, and those were the U25B's. The GP35's were numbered in the 2550-series, and the C425's were in the 2450 series.
