Schuyler - I didn't mean to imply the engines weren't EL in origin - from this month's Diesel Era: The lone PRR/PC C424, all but 2 EL's and all but one RDG C424 were either traded or sold to GE. (Plus they bought one more EL & one more RDG from Naporano) - out of that the 1 PRR, 8 of the EL's and 2 RDG units were rebuilt along with 6 PRR C425's at Hornell. Said units went to D&H, GBW, and D&M. According to this the units to D&H are: (EL)2401 (LA&L 421), 2402, 2405, 2406 (MEC 453), 2407(LA&L 424), 2408, 2414 (LA&L 423), RDG 5206 (LA&L 422) and 5207(MEC 455). The other three went to the G&W, one was wrecked and the others are on the MNNR. LA&L 425 was NH 2557. Apparently they were redone by GE either for D&H or the lessor, or were redone and then sold. This gives the unit's Builder's Numbers as ID - All of the trading was done 1980-81, after the units became Conrail engines. Also, wouldn't the "FIRST 424" be that odd PRR unit, it was Alco 640-1 before PRR got it (and it still exists although this list doesn't know where it is). (It does have a higher frame number though than 2401) On the other hand wouldn't EL's C425's (now mostly on GVT) be the first C425's? I thought I read that EL created the thing insisting that they have the same generator as a U25B. Bill K. - ---------- > From: Schuyler G.
