Re: (erielack) New Transfer station on Greenwood Lake Branch

Roy,
That was interesting article you read. What day
was that published and on what page? I wonder
about the running of a train thru Riverdale since
although the tracks are still intact, but the
tracks at the old Riverdale station go through a
gate into a fenced in yard owned by I think a fuel
oil company. Since this looks like private
property and the only way to go south from
Riverdale trackwise is unlock these gates and
proceed thru the yard, I wonder if it is at all
feasable to be able to run a train south. Maybe
the rack rights belong to the Suzie-Q still, so
they still might have an option of operating this
section. As a matter of fact, the tracks have
never been removed from Pompton Junction to
Mountain View, just paved over at some crossings
south of Pompton Plains and maybe blocked in some
spots by trees and overgrown bushes. I took some
pictures in July of just how far you can walk
north of Mt. View on the old GL Branch and plan to
post them on my new page. The tracks are still
there but go into a massive overgrowth maybe 3/4
of a mile north of the Mt. View Station. In fact
there is an Erie cast concrete milepost laying off
to the right (east) side of the tracks for anyone
who would like to check it out. I would have liked
to put it in my car and take it home, but it is
probably too heavy to carry, not to mention I am
not sure if my Camaro would appreciate the extra
weight traveling back to NC. Anyway, if anyone has
anymore info on the Transfer Station, let's hear
about it....Paul T, where are you? :-)
