(erielack) MQ Tower

Received (directly) the following correction to my post of June 4. My
apologies for being incorrect. PS, if anyone has really old copies (1977 I
believe) of Tri-State NRHS' "The Block Line", I seem to recall there being an
article about MQ, complete with a "Sheppardian" diagram (i.e. track diagram
drawn by Bill Sheppard). See also the photo in the centerspread of the April,
1998 Railpace (which incidentally also incorrectly identifies the crossing
track as the Pine Island Branch)

Here is the correction I received. Thanks to Jerome for the correct info:

Rich,

The Pine Island Branch never crossed the Graham Line at MQ. That was
the Montgomery Branch which ended at the Main Line south of Goshen Station.
The Pine Island Branch began a few feet south of the Montgonery Branch
switch at Goshen off #2 Track where Montgomery Branch came in on the #1
track with a single crossover between the two branches on Main Line tracks.
LNE trains to Maybrook had to use the crossover in Goshen between Main Line
tracks 2 and 1 before entering the Montgomery Branch to Campbell Hall Jct
which was the NH track into Maybrook.

MQ Tower is not on the MNR Station but just west of the parking lot
pavement by the pole supporting the two antennas which was there when the
tower was there. The end of the pavement was the Montgomery Branch opposite
the G5 marker on the north side of the tracks.

     Jerome
